Supraphon (LP)

Jacket EX / LP EX / Czech pressing

This superb LP from Supraphon (1 10 1127, Czech pressing, blue/silver label, stereo) features conductor Otakar Trhlik and the Ostrava Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra in a richly evocative account of Richard Strauss’ Aus Italien (Symphonic Fantasy in G Major Op. 16), sumptuously recorded at Supraphon Studios, The House of Artists, Prague, in 1971.

The exact track listing is as follows:

Auf der Campagna (Andante)

In Roms Ruinen (Allegro molto con brio)

Am Strande von Sorrent (Andantino)

Neapolitanisches Volksleben (Finale. Allegro molto)

This album was produced by Dr. Eduard Herzog and engineered by Miloslav Kulhan. The striking cover photo was taken by Erich Tylinek and there are insightful liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Dr. Kamil Slapak, provided in English, German, and French.

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is a former dealer’s sticker to the upper-right corner, a few instances of edgewear and creasing, but that is all. There are no bends, seamsplits, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not silent, really this is a fine copy and the playback is enjoyable. However, those requiring a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this is an excellent collector's copy.
