Mercury (LP)

Jacket NM / LP EX / UK pressing

This lovely LP from Mercury (MMA 11041, English EMI pressing, plum/silver label, mono) features Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt and the London Symphony Orchestra's magnificent acounts of Mozart's Symphonies No. 39 in E-flat Major K. 543 and No. 41 in C Major K. 551 "Jupiter"*, both recorded in the spacious acoustics of Watford Town Hall, London, on 30 June and 1 July 1958* (producer: Harold Lawrence / engineer: C. Robert Fine) – superb!

There are insightful and eloquent liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by John M. Conly, printed in English only. The cover art reproduces Joseph Lange's incomplete portrait of Mozart.

CONDITION – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. There is slight bumping at corners, as well as mild discoloration to the rear panel, but that is all. Otherwise, the album appears almost as new. There are no bends, seamsplits, owners' markings, or other defects, and the jacket remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, this rates as a superb collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent, and there are some randome tics (nothing repertitive), this is a fine copy and playback remains enjoyable. Those requiring a flawless or near-mint surfaces are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this is an excellent collector's copy.
