Scherchen: Beethoven Symphony No. 7 Op. 92 - Westminster Japan G-10513

$45.00 USD

Westminster Japan (LP)

Jacket NM / LP NM

This lovely LP from Westminster Japan (G-10513, Japanese pressing, plum/silver script label, mono – no stereo version exists) features Herman Scherchen's commanding account of Beethoven's Symphonies No. 7 in A Major Op. 92, recorded with the Vienna State Opera Orchestra in the rich acoustics of the Konzerthaus, Vienna, in July 1951. This is a thrilling performance, capturing Scherchen at white heat, here sounding truly resplendent.

Originally recorded and released by Westminster in 1951, this prefect facsimile not only reproduces the original coverart, but also the liner notes by Paul Affelder and even the label design. Transfers are expertly done and the sound is arguably smoother and richer than the original 1951 pressing. The insert with notes in Japanese is included; otherwise, except for the Obi, all texts are in English, both on the jacket and the label of the LP.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. Really there are no flaws to speak of and the album appears almost as new – overall, an outstanding collector's copy.

The condition of the LP is near-MINT and playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.
