Rosenthal: Le Beau Danube (ballet after J. Strauss II) - Capitol P 18006

$8.00 USD

Capitol (LP)

Jacket EX / LP EX

This handsome LP from Capitol Classics (P 18006, US pressing, green/gold label, Capitol logo at 12 o’clock, mono) features Manuel Rosenthal and the Orchestra of the Paris Opera’s bewitching account of “Le Beau Danube”, the ballet arranged by fellow conductor Roger Désormière of music by the “Waltz King” Johann Strauss Jr.  As the man who created the incomparable “Gaîté Parisienne” after music by Offenbach, Manuel Rosenthal was perhaps uniquely qualified to realize the potential behind Desormiere’s crowd-pleasing invention.

Incidentally, the gorgeous cover art was executed by McNeil. There are engaging liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket, printed in English only.
