Michelucci: Mozart Violin Concerto K. 219 + K. 525 and K. 546 - Philips 6500 537
Jacket VG / Vinyl: NM / Dutch pressing
This handsome LP from Philips (6500 537, Dutch pressing, red/silver label, stereo) features the crack Italian ensemble I Musici in a magnificent all-Mozart program, with soloist Roberto Michelucci. These performances can withstand the most exalted comparison and Philips analog sound is of the very finest quality – warm and vibrant – just like the playing.
Incidentally, the I Musici players are joined by Michael Kühn (oboe), Hans Elshorst (oboe), Jaroslav Kotulan (horn), and Aldo Peter (horn).
The exact contents, most of it recorded at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in the early 1970s, are as follows:
Serenade No. 13 in G Major K. 525 “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik”
Violin Concerto No. 5 in A Major K. 219 “Turkish”
> with violinist Roberto Michelucci
Adagio & Fugue in C minor K. 546
Incidentally, the front cover art reproduces a detail from a watercolor on Parchment entitled “Festive Night Music, performed by the Collegium musicum of Jena, around 1740” (held at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, Hamburg). There are excellent liner notes on the back side of the jacket by Ekkehart Kroher, printed in English only.
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. There is a slight wear at corners, as well as some minute instances of creasing, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, or owners' markings, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Although surfaces are not absolutely silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT), really this is a very fine copy and playback is truly superb. However, if you must have absolutely perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a very fine collector's copy.
