MINT / made in the EU
This beautiful and now quite rare MINT condition CD – a still-sealed copy – from Archiphon (ARC-132, manufactured in Germany, ADD mono, total playing time 61:16, out-of-print) preserves a magical all-Schubert recital given by legendary violinist Rudolf Kolisch and pianist Paul Badura-Skoda at the Music Hall of the University of Madison, Wisconsin on 9 May 1966. The outstanding booklet contains rare archival photos of Kolisch, an extension discussion of his artistry and details of these performances by Károly Csipák, and a touching essay by Paul Badura-Skoda himself entitled 'My Memories of Rudolf Kolisch'. This recital was professionally recorded and has been expertly re-mastered – not to be missed.
Included are the following works:
Schubert: Sonata for Violin and Piano in A Major D. 574 (Op. 162)
Schubert: Sonata for Violin and Piano in G minor D. 408 (Op. 137)
Schubert: Fantasie Violin and Piano in C Major D. 934 (Op. 159)
For all those who care about the art of the violin, this will prove a fascinating CD.
