This fascinating and quite rare LP from Archiphon (ARCH-1.4, German pressing, black/white label, mono) features two remarkable 'live' performances given by conducttor Otto Klemperer with the Concertgebouw Orkest, Amsterdam: Schubert's Symphony No. 4 in C minor D. 417 (broadcast 20 February 1957) and Mendelssohn's Overtures to The Hebrides Op. 26 "Fingal's Cave" (broadcast 21 February 1957) and to A Midsummer Night's Dream Op. 21 (broadcast on 3 November 1955). All three performances find Klemperer at his most charismatic, the Schubert in particular a valuable memento of this great conductor. Booklet included.
