A pity Solti never recorded any of Rachmaninov's symphonic works, a strange omission from his vast discography. One longs to hear him in the Symphony No. 2  and, especially, the Symphonic Dances. Katchen remains as brilliant as ever, playing deep into the keys even in the fastest passagework.
