Groves/English Sinf: Mozart "Paris" & "Prague" Symphonies - IMP CIMP 892 (DDD)
$6.00 USD
Jacket VG / LP NM / UK pressing
This handsome LP from IMP (CIMP 892, EMI pressing, red label, DDD stereo) features veteran conductor Sir Charles Groves leading the estimable English Sinfonia in vital and stylish accounts of Mozart’s Symphonies No. 31 in D Major K. 297 (300a) “Paris” and No. 38 in D Major K. 504 “Prague”, both warmly recorded at EMI Studio No. 1, Abbey Road, London, in 1987. Groves has been rather taken for granted by collectors, but a close auditioning of his impressive discography reveals an inspired performer who consistently drew performances of great verve and expressiveness from any orchestra he conducted.
There are superlative liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Robert Dearling, printed in English only. The striking cover art is uncredited.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. There is light edgwear, more so at corners, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, and attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.
The condition of the LP is near-MINT and playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.
