Friends of Telefunken: rare lavish 3LP box set (classical, dance) - TR 10041-43

$155.00 USD

Telefunken (LP)

Box EX / LPs NM

This very rare 3LP box set features a non-commercial lavish special issue for "Den Freunden unseres Hauses" – was produced circa 1960 for associates of Telefunken (TR 10041-43, German pressing, red/gold labels, booklet includes, tri-panel cloth box) and includes 1 disc of recordings from the label's classical catalog, as well as 1 from the light classical division, and 1 from their dance division.

The production values are quite remarkable: a heavy and lovely cloth gatefold box that upon opening, reveals a 2nd 3-panel casing holding a full-size booklet and the 3 LPs.

I have provided scans of the contents for the light classical and dance discs. The contents of the classical disc are as follows:

Mozart: Symphony No. 40 in G minor K. 540

> Joseph Keilberth conducting the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra

Beethoven: Romance for Violin & Orchestra No. 2 in F Major Op. 50

> Joan Field, violin; with Arthur Rother conducting the Berlin Symphony Orchestra

Beethoven: Leonore Overture No. 3 Op. 72a

> Joseph Keilberth conducting the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra

The 8-page booklet contains liner notes (uncredited), track titles, and several illustrations, all printed on art-like paper. The striking album design is similarly uncredited.

CONDITION – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the box is EXCELLENT. There is a discreet 1 ½" split to the lower edge of the box, but that is all. There are no corner breaks, bends, owners' markings, or other defects, and the remains whole perfectly solid, bright, and very striking in appearance – an excellent collector's copy.

The condition of the full-size, 8-page booklet is near-MINT. Again, there are no flaws to speak of, the pages are crisp and bright, the binding perfect.
