This handsome LP – a superb copy in a “Red Stereo jacket” – from Archive · Deutsche Grammophone (198 638 SAPM / ARC 73138, German pressing, silver label / stereo logo at 9 o’clock, recording data sheet included and original inner sleeve included) features Ralph Kirkpatrick’s magnificent account of J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations BWV 988, made in the rich acoustics of Jesus-Christus-Kirche, Berlin, during 26-30 August 1958.

This album was produced by Wolfgang Lohse and engineered by Harald Baudis. There are authoritative liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Ralph Kirkpatrick himself, printed in English only. The striking cover design is uncredited.
