Jacket VG / LP EX (French pressing - gold circle label - mono)

This beautiful and elusive LP from Adès (MS 30 AS 537, French pressing, gold circle label, mono) features rare early Mozart recordings (circa 1947) by l’Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire under the direction of conductor Arthur Goldschmidt.

The exact contents are as folllows:

Mozart: Divertimento No. 2 in D Major K. 131

Mozart: Les Petits Riens, ballet-pantomime, K. Anh. 10

These works by Mozart were little-known at the time of this recording, seldom heard in the concert hall, much less on record. As always, Goldschmidt – a very fine, under-rated conductor – delivers deft, stylish performances, eliciting playing of wit and sparkle from this great French orchestra.

Incidentally, the striking cover art was designed by Maurice Tapiero. There are superb liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket, printed in French only.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. The previous owner felt the need to reinforce the flipback portion of the jacket with numerous small pieces of clear (now yellowed) tape, but that is all. Otherwise, the jacket remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.

The condition of the dowel spine is VERY GOOD. Again, more pieces of tape, but otherwise solid and in good condition.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent, really this is a fine copy and the playback is enjoyable. Those requiring a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this is an excellent collector's copy.
