This handsome LP from Westminster (WST-17066, US pressing, black label, stereo) features pianist Jörg Demus in a magnificent all-Beethoven album, pairing the composer’s 15 Variations with Fugue in E-flat Major Op. 35 “Eroica” and the 6 Bagatelles Op. 126, both warmly recorded in the rich acoustics of the Mozartsaal, Konzerthaus, Vienna, in October 1959.

This splendid album was produced and engineered by Peter Curiel. There are informative liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by John Natoli, printed in English only. The striking cover portrait of Demus was executed by Milton A. Waldman.
