Watanabe: Szymanowski, Mozart, Scriabin Piano Recital: Audio Lab Record ALC-1043
Jacket VG- / LP EX / Japanese pressing
This beautiful and rare LP from Audio Lab Record (ALC-1043, Japanese pressing, white label, stereo, insert included) entitled “impulse” features pianist Yasuo Watanabe in a dazzling mixed program recorded in the fine acoustics of Iruma Civic Hall on 24 October 1975.
His exact program is as follows:
Karol Szymanowski: 3 Masques Op. 34
- Tantris der Narr (Tantris le Bouffon)
- Eine Don Juan-Serenade
W.A. Mozart: Adagio in B minor K. 540
Alexander Scriabin: Piano Sonata No. 10 Op. 70
Watanabe plays with supreme technical command and a rich color palette. These recordings should be better known. The sound is absolutely first rate, as are the production standards in general.
This album was produced by Okihiko Sugano and engineered by Shinji Othsuka. The lovely cover art was executed by Shozo Shinoda while the album design was completed by AD-Design Susumu Endo. Included is a near full-size insert with extensive liner notes (printed in Japanese only).
CONDITION – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the gatefold jacket is VERY GOOD-. There is some edgewear, discoloration and creasing, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, owners’ markings, bends, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, and attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Though there is occasional light surface noise, in general the playback remains quite fine. However, those wanting a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.
