Solti/LSO: Bartok Miraculous Mandarain, Music for SPC - Spanish Decca SXL 6111
$6.00 USD
Jacket EX / LP NM / Spanish pressing
This beautiful LP from Spanish Decca (SXL 6111, Spanish pressing, black/silver WB label, stereo) features Sir Georg Solti and the London Symphony Orchestra’s high-octane accounts of Bartok’s The Miraculous Mandarin Sz. 73 (Suite) and the Music for String, Percussion, and Celesta Sz. 106, both recorded in the rich acoustics of London’s Kingsway Hall in December 1963 (producer: Erik Smith / engineer: Kenneth Wilkinson). Both works are brought off with a stunning drive, panache and precision, Solti marshalling the LSO to ever greater heights.
There are fine liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side, printed in Spanish only. The striking cover art is similarly uncredited.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. The only real flaw concers some discoloration along the open edge of the jacket. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Although surfaces are not absolutely silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.
