Concert Hall Society (LP)

Jacket EX / LP EX / UK pressing

This lovely LP from Concert Hall Society (M-2258, English pressing, green/silver label, mono, laminated flipback sleeve) features conductor Carl Schuricht and the Orchestre de l’Opera de Paris in magnificent accounts of Mozart’s Symphonies No. 36 in C Major K. 425 “Linz” and No. 40 in G minor K. 550, made in Paris in November 1961.

These are warm, vital and exalted performances with the French players on superlative form throughout, and with excellent sonics to match.

There are excellent liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Julian Herbage, printed in English only. The striking cover art is uncredited.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is minor wear at corners, but that is all. Really, this is close to NM. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector’s copy.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent, really this is a fine copy and playback is superb, close to NM. Those requiring a flawless or near-MINT copy are advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this is an excellent collector's copy.
