This handsome LP from Telestar (TRS 11037, German Teldec pressing, red/black label, stereo) features conductor Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt and the Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s wonderful accounts of Franz Berwald’s Symphonies No. 1 in G minor “Sérieuse” and No. 3 in C Major (Symphonie Singulière), warmly recorded in 1965 for the opening of the then new Berwald Hall in Stockholm and sounding splendid here.

The exact track listing is as follows:

There are extensive liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Frank Hedman, printed in Swedish only. The memorable cover portrait of Berwald is uncredited.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is minor fraying to the laminate on the rear side of the jacket and mild shelfwear, but that is all. There are no bends, seamsplits, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT and the playback is outstanding – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.
