This lovely LP from Vega (C 30 S 119, Westminster license, French pressing, white label, mono – no stereo version exists) features Herman Scherchen's commanding account of Beethoven's Symphonies No. 6 in F Major Op. 68 “Pastorale”, made with the Vienna State Opera Orchestra in the rich acoustics of the Konzerthaus, Vienna, in July 1951. This is a richly lyrical reading, capturing Scherchen at white heat, here sounding truly resplendent.

There are insightful liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Peter Hugh Reed, printed in French only. The striking cover art was executed by Maurice Tapiero.
