Rubinstein: Chopin Waltzes - RCA RCA LM-2726 (deluxe ed. with box & booklet), NM
Box NM / LP NM
This beautiful box set – a superb collector’s copy – from RCA (LM-2726, US pressing, shaded dog Dynagroove label, stereo, booklet and original inner sleeve included) features Artur Rubinstein’s incomparable traversal of Chopin’s 14 Waltzes, warmly recorded at RCA Italiana Studios, Rome, Italy, in June 1963 – a landmark set in the Chopin discography.
These sessions were produced by Max Wilcox and engineered by Sergio Marcotulli. The striking cover photo of Rubinstein on the box front is uncredited; that on the booklet front was taken by Henri Dauman.
Included with this set is a lovely full-size 10-page booklet (on card stock-like paper) with superlative essays on Chopin’s Waltzes (by Herbert Weinstock) and on Rubinstein’s artistry (by Max Wilcox). Also included are numerous engaging session photos by John G. Ross.
