DG (LP)

Jacket EX / LP NM (German pressing - AH tulip label - mono)

This beautiful LP – a fine collector's copy – from Deutsche Grammophon (LPEM 19 201, German pressing, tulip label, mono) features conductor Witold Rowicki and the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra's glittering accounts of the suites from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake Op. 20 and Sleeping Beauty Op. 66a ballets, both sumptuously recorded in the rich acoustics of Philharmonic Hall, Warsaw, in April 1959. Filling out the disc, and set down during the same sessions, is the Polonaise from Tchaikovsky's opera Eugen Onegin Op. 24.

There are insightful liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket, provided in English, German, French, and Spanish. The striking cover photo is credited to Hubert Tobias, Berlin.
