Richter/Leinsdorf: Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2 - French RCA 630582 (red/silver)
Jacket EX / LP EX / French pressing
This beautiful LP from French RCA (630582 / LM 2466, French pressing, red/silver label, mono, original inner sleeve included) features Sviatoslav Richter's resplendent account of Brahm's Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat Major Op. 83, recorded in the superb acoustics of Orchestra Hall, Chicago on 17 October 1960 with Erich Leinsdorf conducting the mighty Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The cello solo in the 3rd Movement Andante was taken by CSO principal Robert La Marchina. As is usually the case, Richter playing is magnetic.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is some minuscule bumping at corners, slight creasing, and discoloration to the rear panel, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, or owners' markings, and the whole remains solid, bright, and glossy – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent, really this is a fine copy and the playback is enjoyable. Those requiring a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this is an excellent collector's copy.
