Richter-Haaser: Beethoven "Emperor" Concerto + Rondo Op. 51/1 - La Voz de su Amo LALP 652
Jacket VG / LP GOOD / Spanish pressing
This handsome LP from Spanish HMV · La Voix de son Maitre (LALP 652, Spanish pressing, red/silver half-circle label - ED1, mono) features Hans Richter-Haaser's justly famous account of Beethoven's Piano Concertos No. 5 in E-flat Major Op. 73 "Emperor", as well as the Rondo in D Major Op. 55 No. 1, both recorded at EMI Studio No. 1, Abbey Road, London on 20 July 1960 with conductor István Kertész and the Philharmonia Orchestra. Richter plays with great strength and, in the slow movement, with sublime poetry. This was an occasion when all players came together – soloist, conductor, orchestra, and sound engineers – outstanding!
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. There is bumping/wear at corners, as well as ringwear and discoloration to the rear panel. However, there are no seamsplits, bends, or owners' markings and the album remains solid, bright, and glossy – overall, a very good collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is GOOD. The surfaces are not CD silent – there is light surface noise and some tics, but in general the playback is good – overall, a decent collector's copy.
