Pavlik: Paganini Violin Concerto No. 1 + Viola Sonata (with Maly) - Panton
Jacket EX / LP NM / Czech pressing
This handsome LP from Panton · Artia (8110 0464, Czech pressing, black/silver label, stereo) features a dazzling all-Paganini album with two brilliant Czech string players front and center. In both performances, the charismatic soloists are accompanied in superb fashion by conductor Milos Konvalinka and the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.
The exact contents are as follows:
Niccolò Paganini: Violin Concerto No. 1 in D Major Op. 6
Cenek Pavlik, violin
(rec. at the Czechoslovak Radio Studio, Prague, on 17/18 November 1984)
Niccolò Paganini: Sonata for Viola and Orchestra in C minor M.S. 70
Lubomir Maly, viola
(rec. at the Dvorak Hall in Prague’s House of Artists on 15/16 March 1984)
This album was produced by Milan Slavicky and engineered by Jaroslav Vasicek (Side 1) and Vaclav Zamazal (Side 2).
The lovely cover photo was taken by Petr Sirotek, while the fine liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket were written by Vladimir Self, and are provided in Czech, English, German, and French.
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is very minor wear at corners, but really that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT and the playback is superb – overall, this rates as a very fine collector's copy.
