Jacket EX / LP EX / UK pressing

This fascinating LP from Argo (RG 5328, English Decca pressing, blue/silver oval label, mono) entitled “Violin and Piano” features violinist Manoug Parikian and pianist Lamar Crowson in a remarkable 20th Century music program, recorded at Decca’s Studio No. 3, West Hampstead, London, on 1 February 1962, a project sponsored by the British Council.

The exact contents are as follows:

Peter Racine Fricker; Twelve Studies Op. 38

Thea Musgrave: Colloquy

Alan Rawsthorne: Violin Sonata

This album was produced by Andrew Raeburn and engineered by Arthur Lilley. The striking cover art was designed by George Mayhew and there are insightful and eloquent liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Peter Evans, printed in English only.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is minor edgewear, more so at corners, as well as slight creasing, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains perfectly solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT+. Though the surfaces are not absolutely silent, really this is a fine copy and the playback is quite superb. Those requiring CD silent surfaces are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.
