Ormandy: "Ports of Call" (Ravel, Debussy, etc.) - Columbia KS 6478 (deluxe ed.)

$15.00 USD

Columbia Masterworks (LP)

Box EX / LP NM

This beautiful deluxe album – with a lavish full-size, 20-page booklet – from Columbia Masterworks (KS 6478, US pressing, gray “360 Sound” label, stereo) entitled “Ports of Call” features a remarkable concept album, pairing the idea of travel and music in brilliant fashion.

The booklet includes essays by the leading travel writers of the day, as well as stunning black-and-white pictures by some of the most celebrated photographers then working.

Add to this the brilliantly technicolor performances of the Philadelphia Orchestra under Music Director Eugene Ormandy and one has a remarkable one-of-a-kind set one seldom sees any more. Indeed, in terms of production standards, Columbia pulled out all the stops.

The set consists of:

            > A glossy out slipcase

            > A heavy textured inner sleeve
