The playing of the “Fabulous Phiadelphians” is imbued with tremendous poetry and panache, and Ormandy’s conducting is well within the Karajan and Beecham class – simply wonderful.

These performances were recorded at various venues in Philadelphia (The Academy of Music, Town Hall, et al.) during the early 1960s.

This album was produced by Thomas Frost. There are informative liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Leslie Rubinstein, printed in English only. The striking cover photo was taken by Erich Lessing of Magnum.
