$10.00 USD

RBM (LP)

Jacket EX / LP NM

This fine and little-known LP from RBM (3009, German pressing, black/silver label, stereo) entitled "Russische Fantasie" features the splendid violinist Franc Mueller in an imaginative pairing of Henri Wieniawski's Violin Concerto No. 2 in D minor Op. 22 with the seldom heard Russische Fantasie for Violin and Orchestra in B minor Op. 33 by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Filling out the disc is Wieniawski's Legende in G minor Op. 17.

The orchestra throughout is the Rheinische Philharmonie, with conductor Pierre Stoll on the podium in Opps. 33 and 17, and Walter Crabeels taking honors in Op. 22.

There are informative liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Alex Blin, provided in German only. The memorable cover photo of Mueller is uncredited.
