Krips/Concertgebouw: Mozart "Haffner" & "Jupiter" Symphonies - Philips 6500 429
Jacket VG- / LP NM / Dutch pressing
This handsome LP from Philips (6500 429, Dutch pressing, red/silver label, stereo) features conductor Josef Krips and the Concertgebouw Orchestra in wonderfully vital and supremely eloquent renditions of 2 Mozart Symphonies, timeless performances that can be spoken of in the same breath as those by Bruno Walter, Karl Bohm, Charles Mackerras, et al.
The exact contents are as follows, all works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart:
Symphony No. 35 in D Major K. 385 “Haffner”
Symphony No. 41 in C Major K. 551 “Jupiter”
Both works were recorded in the warm acoustics of the Concertgebouw in June 1972.
The reverse side of the jacket carries authoritative liner notes by the great musicologist Karl Schumann – provided in English only. The memorable cover photo of Krips was taken by Frits van Swoll, Soest.
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD-. There is a small catalog number taped to the upper spine, as well as edgewear and corners wear. However, there are no seamsplits, bends, owners' markings or other defects and the whole remains bright, solid, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, still a very good collector's copy.
The condition of the LP is near-MINT and playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.
