This beautiful and very rare late-issue LP from Chandos (ABRD 1426, German pressing, blue/black label, DDD stereo) features Neemi Järvi and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in a resplendent all-Reger program, sumptuously recorded in the rich acoustics of the Grote Zaal, Concertebouw, Amsterdam, on 6-7 July 1989.

Four Tone Poems after Arnold Böcklin Op. 128
Variations on a Theme of Johann Adam Hiller Op. 100
This remarkable album was produced by Brian Couzens and engineered by Ralph Couzens and Ben Connellan, and boasts demonstration quality sound.
The fine liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket are by the eminent writer John Cox (and are provided in English, German, and French), while the striking front cover art reproduces a detail from Böcklin’s “Der geigende Eremit. The jacket design was done by Penny Olymbios.
