Hubert: Debussy, Schoenberg, Pennisi, Lolini - Edipan PAN PRC S20-21 - rare
Jacket EX / LP NM / Italian pressing
This superb and little-known LP from edipan (PAN PRC S20-21, Italian pressing, black/silver label, stereo) features the brilliant pianist Eduardo Hubert in a fascinating mixed program, all warmly recorded in Rome circa 1984.
The exact contents are as follows:
Claude Debussy: Images
Arnold Schoenberg: Drei Klavierstücke (1894)
Francesco Pennisi: Afterthoughts (1962)
Francesco Pennisi: Promenade (1980)
Francesco Pennisi: In un foglio (1983)
Ruggiero Lolini: Notturne stelle innumeri
Among others, Eduardo Hubert worked under the pianists Carlo Zecchi, Guido Agosti, Paul Badura-Skoda, Jorg Demus, Nikita Magaloff, and Hans Richter-Haaser.
The reverse side of the jacket carries insightful liner notes by Luigi Bellingardi, provided in Italian only. The striking cover design is uncredited.
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is very mild discoloration to the rear panel, but really that is all. Otherwise, the album is NM. There are no seamsplits, bends, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, this rates as an excellent collector’s copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though the surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.
