Hanson: Symphonies by Harris No. 3 & Hanson No. 4 - Mercury MG 40004, superb!
Jacket EX / LP EX
This beautiful LP from Mercury (MG 40004, US pressing, gold/red label, mono) features Volume 5 in the label’s “American Music Festival Series”, this installment devoted to composer Howard Hanson conducting the Eastman-Rochester Symphony Orchestra in his own Symphony No. 4 and Roy Harris’ Symphony No. 3. Both were set down in the fine acoustics of The Eastman Theater, Rochester during 11-13 May 1953.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. The only flaw barring a NM grading concerns a 1” split/bend to the lower-right corner. Otherwise, the album is in truly fine shape and there are really no other flaws to speak of – the jacket remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent, really this is a fine copy and playback is superb, close to NM. Those requiring a flawless or near-MINT copy are advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this is an excellent collector's copy.
