Fricsay/BPO: Rossini 6 Overtures (rec. 1949-53) - Heliodor 89763 - wonderful!
Jacket VG / LP EX / German pressing
This handsome LP – with an “art” cover, somewhat rare on this label – from Heliodor (89763, English pressing, plum label, mono) features conductor Ferenc Fricsay in brilliant accounts of 6 Overtures by Rossini, with honors divied between the Berlin Philharmonic and the RIAS Symphony Orchestra, Berlin. These are breathtakingly fine performances, sharply etched yet full of wit and high spirits – DG’s vintage analog sound is simply outstanding throughout.
Included are the following Rossini Overtures:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD+. There is minor wear at corners and light creasing, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains perfectly solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, this rates as a very good collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent, this is a fine copy and the playback is quite superb. Those requiring flawless or NM surfaces are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.
