Some may quibble at moments of false intonation, but the veteran Elman brings a lifetime’s widsom and experience to these scores. Any momentary blips are like spots on the sun.

* The country of manufacture for the LP itself is not clear. All texts and label information are in English, but I cannot guarantee what the country of origin is (either England or Holland) – I will not accept a return because a prospective would have preferred one or the other. In any case, it is up to Philips’ usual high standards. I will not accept a return based on

Originally recorded and issued by Vanguard (VSD 2047), Fontana offers here a superlative pressing. There are insightful liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket, printed in English only. The lovely cover photo is credited to Lidbrooke. Although the maker of the gown is provided (Susan Small), the name of the beautiful model is not.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is minor bumping at corners, as well as light discoloration and shelfwear, but that is all. There are no bends, seamsplits owners' markings, or other defects and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Though there is occasional light surface noise, in general the playback remains quite fine. However, those wanting a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.
