$10.00 USD

Mercury (LP)

Jacket NM / LP MINT (sealed) / US pressing

This outstanding album – the LP is still sealed – from Mercury (MG50293, US pressing, plum/silver label, mono) entitled “Curtain Up! Symphonic Dance Favorites” features three of the label’s finest conductors – Antal Dorati, Paul Paray, and Frederick Fennel – in a rousing collection of symphonic dances, all brought off with tremendous panache and brilliance.

The exact contents are as follows:

Johann Strauss II: Roses from the South Waltz

Johann Strauss II: Champagne Polka

Eduard Strauss: Bahn Frei Polka

Antonin Dvorak: Slavonic Dances Nos. 6 and 7

Johannes Brahms: Hungarian Dances Nos. 6 and 7

Aram Khachaturian: Sabre Dance, from Gayne

Modest Mussorgsky: Dance of the Persian Slaves

Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Polonaise from Eugene Onegin

Georges Bizet: Farandole from L’Arlesienne

Arthur Benjamin: Jamaican Rumba

Aaron Copland: Hoe Down from Rodeo

There are brief liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket, printed in English only. The striking cover design is similarly uncredited.

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. Aside from minuscule wear at corners, really there are no flaws to speak of and the album appears as new – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.

The condition of the LP is MINT. This is a still-sealed, unplayed copy – the ideal collector's copy.
