Jacket GOOD / LP NM / German pressing

This outstanding and rare LP from German Columbia (SME 80 762, German pressing, gold label, stereo, original inner sleeve included) features Vol. 2 of André Cluytens and the l' Orchestra de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire's legendary, sumptuous and glittering Ravel cycle, produced by the great René Challan and engineered by Walter Ruhlmann, all sessions held in the Salle Wagram, Paris.

The sound quality is truly extraordinary and from the very first gripping bars of Bolero one has the sensation of being in the very presence of the Paris Conservatory Orchestra.

Vol. 2 includes dazzling performances of the following works:

Bolero

> with trombone soloist Marcel Galiègie

(rec. November 1961)

Rapsodie Espagnole

            Prélude à la nuit

            Malagueña

            Habanera

            Feria

(rec. April 1962)

La Valse · Poème choréographique

(rec. April 1962)

Incidentally, there are superb liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Jean Cotté, printed in English only.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is GOOD. There is a bend/crush to the lower-right corner, as well as bumping/wear at corners, edgewear, creasing, and some small writing to the rear panel. However, there are no seamsplits and the album remains solid and presentation worthy – not a collector's copy, but a decent one.

The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. This is just less than MINT. If you need a flawless copy, then do not buy this LP. This is a superb near-MINT collector's copy.
