Barshai: Bartok Divertissement & Vivaldi Concerti Grossi - Decca LXT 6026 A
Jacket EX / LP NM / French pressing
This beautiful LP from French Decca (LXT 6026 A, French pressing, orange/silver label, mono) features Rudolf Barshai and his crack ensemble, the Moscow Chamber Orchestra in electrifying performances of Bartok’s Divertimento for String Orchestra Sz. 113, coupled to Vivaldi’s Concerti Grosso in B minor RV 580 (Op. 3 No. 10) and in D minor RV 565 (Op. 3 No. 11), all recorded in demonstration quality sound at Decca’s West Hampstead Studio No. 3, during 30 June / 1 July 1962 (produer: Paul Bremner / engineer: Kenneth Wilkinson).
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the glossy laminated jacket is EXCELLENT. There is minor bumping/wear at corners, slight laminate lift, some creasing, and the trace remants of a former sticker to the rear panel. However, there are no seamsplits, bends, or owners' markings and the album remains perfectly solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive in appearance – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is similarly near-MINT and the playback is outstanding. The surfaces are not absolutely silent, and thus I have rated it “near-MINT” versus “MINT”. Only those requiring a flawless copy need hesitate. Overall, this rates as a superb collector’s copy.
