Almeida: Dukas La Péri, L’Apprenti Sorcier, Polyeucte - Supraphon 1 10 1560
Jacket NM / LP NM / Czech pressing
This beautiful LP from Supraphon (1 10 1560, Czech pressing, blue/silver label, mono) features conductor Antonio Almeida and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra in a splendid all-Dukas program, sumptuously recorded at the Supraphon Studios, The House of Artists, Prague, on 3/4 September 1973 (producer: Dr. Eduard Herzog / engineer: Miloslav Kulhan).
The exact contents are as follows, all works by Paul Dukas, timings shown in parenthesis:
Fanfare, pour précèder La Péri (2:20)
La Péri (18:30)
L’Apprenti Sorcier (11:20)
The lovely cover art was executed by Denisa Wagnerova, the album design by Miloslav Zacek, and the liner notes by Milan Novotny, which are printed in English, German, and French.
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the gatefold jacket is near-MINT. There is very slight bumping at corners, but that is all. Really, the album appears virtually as new – solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, a very fine collector’s copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Although surfaces are not absolutely silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.
