Albeniz, Granados, Espla piano recital - Blue Angel BA 29001 - rare
Jacket EX / Vinyl NM / German pressing
This superb and little-known LP from Blue Angel (BA 29001, German pressing, DMM · Direct Metal Mastering, blue label, stereo) features the brilliant pianist Jesús González Alonso in a remarkable program of music by Albeniz, Espla, and Granados, all warmly recorded at the Festeburg-Kirche, Frankfurt am Main, Preungesheim, on 14/15 June 1982.
The exact contents are as follows:
Isaac Albéniz: El Albaicin, from Iberia
Oscar Espla: Lírica española (Books I & II) Op. 54
Enrique Granados: Allegro de concierto
Alonso was 1st Prize Winner at the 1973 Bosendorfer Competition in Vienna and studied with Jose Cubiles and Hans Graf, among others.
This album was produced by Trion Sound Production GmbH and engineered by Richard Hauck. The reverse side of the jacket carries a brief biography of Alonso, uncredited. The striking cover design is similarly uncredited.
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is very mild shelfwear, but really that is all. Otherwise, the album is NM. There are no seamsplits, bends, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, this rates as an excellent collector’s copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though the surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.
