These remarkable performances were all vividly recorded in demonstration quality sound at Vanguard’s 23rd Street Studio, New York, in 1980 (producer: Seymour Solomon / engineers: Tom Lazarus and Jonathan Thayer).
The interior panels of the gatefold jacket carry liner notes by composer Christian Wolff, no less – provided in English only. The striking cover art reproduces a detail from an etching by Claudio Juarez, while the cover design was executed by Ronald Clyne.
