Jacket EX / LP VG

This beautiful 10” LP from French Decca (LS 5320, French pressing, green/silver label, mono) features Hans Knappertsbusch and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in powerful and atmospheric accounts of Siegfried’s Rhine Journey and Funeral March from Götterdämmerung, recorded at the Sofiensaal, Vienna during 3-6 June 1956 (producer: Victor Olof / engineer: Gordon Parry). This is exalted playing and conducting by any measure and these stirring performances remain landmarks in the Wagner discography – superb!

The condition of the laminated flipback jacket is EXCELLENT. There is slight bumping/wear at corners, as well as mild ringwear to the rear panel, but that is all. However, there are no bends, seamsplits, or owners’ markings, and the jacket remains solid, bright, glossy, and extremely attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is VERY GOOD. There are a few tics at the start of Siegfried’s Rhine Journey, but after that the sound clears up nicely and playback is excellent. Those wanting flawless or near-MINT surfaces, however, are kindly encourage to look elsewhere – overall, this rates as a very good collector's copy.
