Aimée van de Wiele: Rameau keyboard works - Discophiles Français DF 740 085 (ds)
Jacket EX / Vinyl NM (French pressing - white/green label, stereo, dowel spine)
This lovely LP – rare in stereo – from Les Discophiles Français (DF 740 085, French EMI Pathé-Marconi pressing, white/green label, stereo, dowel spine) features the splendid harpsichord player Aimée van de Wiele in a magical all-Rameau program, recorded with tremendous realism at the Salle Wagrm, Paris, on 31 March 1964, one of the great recitals of its kind on record.
Her exact program is as follows:
La Rappel des Oiseaux
Double de II Rigaudon
Musette en rondeau
Les tendres plaintes
L’Entretien des Muses
(Pièce extraite des Pièces en Concert, réduction pour clavecin par l’Auteur)
Menuet majeur – Menuet mineur
Incidentally, there are insightful and eloquent liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Maruice Fleuret, printed in French only.
CONDITION – PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the heavy cardboard “baguette”-style jacket is EXCELLENT. There is light discoloration along the edges, but really that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, and highly attractive in appearance – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the dowel spine is VERY GOOD. The only flaw here is that the text on the dowel is discolored and hard to read; otherwise, superb.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Although the surfaces are not completely silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT), really this is a very fine copy and playback is superb. However, if you must have absolutely perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a lovely collector's copy.
